The Gien company, established in 1850 in Gien, France, is renowned for its high-quality earthenware and faience. Their decorative plates and dinnerware, often featuring intricate designs inspired by historical motifs and natural elements, are celebrated for their craftsmanship and artistic merit, making them sought after by collectors worldwide.

This particular plate, identified as an artichoke plate, is a classic example of Gien's decorative tableware. These plates were designed to serve artichokes, with a central well for the vegetable and often a rim for discarded leaves. The faience technique, a type of tin-glazed earthenware, allows for detailed decoration and a durable finish, contributing to the longevity and appeal of these antique pieces.

Two available and may be used as decorative wallhangings. Some crackling visible but no none visible cracks or chips.
